A FAKE IS BORN

ImpressionI think it was Coco Chanel who used to say if you’re original, be ready to be copied. It is a shame to see Sephora windows filled with Paco Rabanne perfumes which is a mix of Cartier plus Cartier! Merely a copy of Cartier’s design. I love the style. I love the story, but I hate the xerox.

Copiers go fast. Marc Ange, the copyist did “La Bergère et le Bouc” but nobody have never heard from it !!! However he knows Cartier’s know-how and design and he has only copied Cartier’s design for the new Paco Rabanne Perfume. Continue reading

It will reflect the label’s orientation and will offer the brand’s entire range,” summed up a close source of the house. Continue reading

KRISTEN STEWART

1E62CDF6Kristen Stewart looked like a retro ’50s fashionista while filming an untitled Woody Allen project in Los Angeles. In the same time Kristen Stewart, who has appeared in campaigns for Chanel and is regularly front-row at its shows, is to appear in a film being made for the French house’s next Métiers d’Arts show, scheduled for Dec. 1 in Rome.

Sitting in the director’s chair, Karl Lagerfeld wrapped the two-day shoot at Luc Besson’s studio in Paris last month, and conceived the intriguing storyline: A fictional, behind-the-scenes look at a yet-to-be-made biopic about founder Gabrielle Chanel.

Lagerfeld said Stewart, best known for the “Twilight” series and her recent turn in Continue reading

KARLY LOYCE AT CÉLINE

CELINEAn unknown beauty being plucked from obscurity to walk designer runways is a fashion tale as old as time. But when applied to the new face of Céline’s Fall 2015 campaign, Martinique’s own Karly Loyce, it seems like a story we’ve never heard the likes of before.

The new fashionable model of Céline after Daria Werbow and Joan Didion is Karly Loyce, a young student in biology coming form La Martinique.

She was spotted by www.theinfliuencer.info and the new brand creative director at her first catwalk. La Martiniquaise who will represent the brand during the Fall/Winter 2015 campaign is photographed by Juergen Teller. Continue reading

CHINA & LUXURY THE END OF A LOVE STORY

LUXECHINOISChinese tourists have been spending record amounts on luxury goods this year, VAT-refund company Global Blue said in a report published in April. For European destinations, the weak euro has been a big draw.

More than 100 million Chinese travel abroad every year, buying more luxury goods than any other nation. Shopping for the perfumes and designer clothes that can cost them twice as much at home is a major travel incentive.

However China has just devalued its currency by 2 percent after a run of poor economic data – a move some economists think Continue reading

FRANCK SORBIER ‘THE DREAMER’

dreamerFranck Sorbier’s fashion shows are always a exceptional and magic moment. In 2013, the poet, Franck Sorbier, has choosen to reinterpret the tale of “Peau d’Ane”. There is some Magic in the Telling … “Discovering the Dreamer of Franck Sorbier”.

Haute Couture is a land that imagination forgot. Many will speak of it as legend or as fantasy or even as mythology. And that is perfectly fine. We have no objection. However, Haute Couture is a real fact of life.

And, as you cross the Bridge of Belief, as you imagine yourself lifting out of the logic and out of the reason of the consensus reality, moving beyond time and space and beyond time-space, you can find that that land is and has been forgotten by the imagination. Continue reading

STRUGGLE FOR LIFE IN GERMANY

KARLNews from the luxury sector in Germany haven’t been very glamorous lately. To the joy of international companies such as Hermès and LVMH, the rich and famous are usually not discouraged by economic downturns, so why are some German companies having such a hard time?
Next to internal disputes and challenges, German designer brands seem to be having major difficulties keeping up with the fast-evolving nature of their industry.

Womenswear group Escada has had, for example, a good run after it welcomed new investor Megha Mittal, but the company has faced severe issues on an executive level. Its latest CEO Glenn McMahon stepped down in July after seven months of tenure, following the resignation of Continue reading

SPORTSWEAR THE FUTURE OF FASHION

luxesportwearThe reality is that people still love well-made clothing, but, ideally, clothing they can actually live in. A recent article on Business of Fashion reflects on this phenomenon, citing an increasing fondness for so-called “streetwear” brands as evidence. But in finding the term “streetwear” demeaning and inadequate for labels like Public School and Hood by Air, the fashion editor of the Influencer, Julia, hails it as “luxury sportswear.” Continue reading

THE BEAST OF GIVAUDAN

givaudanOver the last few years, the world’s biggest fragrance and flavour maker Givaudan has been benefiting from a strong demand for their products in emerging markets, where ever more consumers can afford cosmetics. However recent sales growth in these markets seems slowing down and thus growth would likely stay on a similar level to 2014/2015, below the target range it has given for 2010-2015. Continue reading

ALBEMARLE STREET

wang2Alexander Wang has opened his first European flagship – and largest flagship store worldwide so far – in London.

The designer, who just announced his departure from fashion house Balenciaga, told Vogue UK: “I always knew that London would be the first city that I would want to open a flagship in in Europe. It’s our largest European market and it’s one of my favourite cities in the world. I think that London has the best shopping in the world. There’s just so many options, so many great stores – I mean, Harrods is a mecca – you can buy anything there for anyone!”

The new flagship is located on Albemarle Street in the city’s upmarket yet fashionable Mayfair area, close to iconic Savile Row and Dover Street, where Dover Street Market, Acne and Victoria Beckham are located. It was designed together with architect Vincent Van Duysen and measures 625 sqm. Continue reading

CLAUDIA GOULD BRITISH MODELS

wild-prod-claudia-2According to us Claudia Gould represents the new model’s generation. Free, open minded, ready to take risks and passionate, she is the Influencer of this first week of August !

We met her in Paris, in a nice little bar close to Science Po, and here is a condensate of her vision :

Favourite female word: I like planetary words, ‘venus’ perhaps or ‘moon’, because they rule all female energy. Maybe the word ‘Aphrodite’, the goddess of love.

Singing in the shower: ‘say a little prayer’ by aretha franklin fits in with the routine thing, but sometimes its made up songs i sing to myself.

Ice cream: mint choc chip Continue reading

DEPP IMPACT

deepThis season, Karl Lagerfeld has not been hesitating to make a media stunt at Chanel campaigns for “Eyeswear”. Lily Rose Depp (daughter of Vanessa Paradis and Johnny Depp) will be his muse. So far very little publicized, the 16 year old enters into the world of fashion.

Fashion loves more than any other society to celebrate a certain aristocracy of success and beauty. It is therefore not uncommon for the “little sisters” and “daughters” to become the egeries of brands or magazines which expect to exploit their famous name to increase their visibility. GUCCI BRAND

GUCCIGucci, the flagship brand of French luxury and sportswear group Kering, posted a 4.6 percent rise in underlying second-quarter sales on Monday, marking a much sooner-than-expected rebound under its new creative and management duo.

Kering Finance Director Jean-Marc Duplaix said the brand had benefited from strong demand from Chinese tourists in Japan and Western Europe, while Gucci’s sales in China were boosted by discounted sales of its previous designer’s collections.

Kering’s first-half operating profit fell 5.4 percent to 773.2 million euros ($859 million), which Duplaix said was partly due to significant investment in marketing and communications at recovering sports brand Puma. Continue reading
