Vera Wang will not be presenting her collection at the New York Fashion Week next season ?
Vera Wang will be debuting her Autumn/Winter 2017 collection via a film instead. It would seem that the designer would prefer to unveil her collection online on February 28.
One potential reason for the change of strategy could be the fact that Wang is set to be awarded the French National Order of the Legion of Honour on the same date, which also happens to be the opening day of Paris Fashion Week.
On 6th December, the first Fashion Forum will be held at La Gaîté Lyrique in Paris.
Both the Minister of Culture and Communication and the Minister of Economy and Finance sponsor this Forum which will be opened to the professionals of this sector. The themes of the conference will be finance, know-how, production, retails and also the creators. The speakers will be soon confirmed.

Today a photographer is an Artist. Christer Strömholm is one of the great personalities of Swedish photography. Born in Stockholm, he discovered photography via graphic art in the late 1940s. His photographs from this period are hard black-and-white compositions featuring walls, shadows and minimalist settings.
During his sejourns in Paris in the 1950s and 60s, he developed a style reminiscent of street photography, and this is also where he produced his famous portraits of transsexuals at Place Blanche. Strömholm also went on numerous photographic expeditions around the globe in the early 1960s, including Spain, Japan, India and the USA. Early in his career, he began teaching at Kursverksamheten in Stockholm, and his classes eventually became the legendary Fotoskolan, from which some 1,200 students graduated between 1962 and 1974. A Slavic workshop of stylists and photographers called Treti Pivni (translates as Third Rooster) have decided to bring back one of the more amazing Ukranian traditions.
They’ve produced a serie of portraits of modern Ukranian women dressed in traditional Ukranian floral headdresses.
According to the tradition, these headdresses were worn by young, unmarried women to show their “purity” and marital eligibility.
The artists are using them as a reminder of Ukrainian identity. With continuing political and actual physical pressure from Russia, the country faces serious threats to its integrity and unity is needed more than ever and needs some tenderness
Stella McCartney invited to talk at London College of Fashion. The designer, who last week unveiled her first men’s range at Abbey Road Studios, spoke at a talk hosted by Kering and the Centre for Sustainable Fashion on Monday.
She talked about sustainability, fast fashion and the use of viscose fabrics to a crowd of students and industry figures including Kering chief executive officer François-Henri Pinault, Salma Hayek, Twiggy and McCartney’s sister, Mary McCartney, and her husband Alasdhair Willis.
“People want to be more conscious in the way that they consume,” the designer said. “I feel that people are less intimidated by it, so that’s what’s changed, people have learned more and become more open. That comes into how you eat, what your lifestyle is, how you get from A to Z. Continue reading

George Shaghashvili holds a BA and an MA degree from the State Academy of Arts, Tbilisi, both degrees with high distinctions as well as he finished Tbilisi Medical University as a Medical Doctor in Preventive Medicine.
Previously, in 1999, before his formal design education, George Shaghashvili won a price at the International Advantage Fashion Assembly in Tbilisi for the best avantgarde idea and realization of a 17 costume collection. Johann Peter Rupert (born 1 June 1950) is the eldest son of South African business tycoon Anton Rupert. He is the chairman of the Swiss-based luxury-goods company Richemont. Johann is not giving up on his old team. Alongside the changes and in the interest of continuity in the decision-making process and the “wealth of knowledge” among Richemont veterans, many former managers and current non-executive directors will join a new international advisory council.
They include Yves-André Istel, Simon Murray, Lord Renwick of Clifton, Professor Jürgen Schrempp and The Duke of Wellington. The council will act as a sounding board for the board of directors, drawing on the “significant expertise” of its members, according to Rupert. Continue reading
Today the Lady Dior Bag has become the iconic bag of the House of Dior.
Since its creation it has several times reinterpreted. The brand has recently decided to ask to some of the most modern American and British artists to re-invent the Bag.
The #DiorLadyArt project began with a one-off bag designed by Marc Quinn for the opening of the Dior boutique in London and has now grown to six more famed names including Ian Davenport and Jason Martin. Each artist was given carte blanche to utilize their signature techniques to put their own spin on Lady Dior.
Ever since the #HMBalmaination hysteria calmed down, H&M has been taking guesses on who will be the next H&M guest designer. And today, finally, H&M is launching its new designer collection with Kenzo. Launching worldwide in selected stores and online on November 3, the collection will feature clothes and accessories for both men and women.

James Galanos died day before yesterday of natural causes at his house in West Hollywood, Californi , he was 92.
Galanos was one of the West Coast contingent of designers along with Adolfo who dressed the Ladies who lunched in California, from Los Angeles to San Francisco, but who suddenly shot to fame when one of their clients, Nancy Reagan, became first lady. Reagan was a loyal supporter of Galanos, often wearing his gowns to state dinners. But shortly after the Reagans left the White House, Galanos left fashion. He spent the last decade or more focusing on art
and photography, only occasionally mingling with the fashion world.
Galanos was born on Sept. 20, 1924 in a Philadelphia, the only son of Greek-born parents. His mother, Helen Gorgoliatos, and his father, Gregory Galanos, ran a restaurant in southern New Jersey, where Galanos first witnessed “ladies who lunch” before it became a term. Continue reading
Born in Bandung, West Java, in 1968, Titarubi began producing art while studying ceramics at the Department of Fine Arts at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in 1988.
She is known for her work across multiple media, such as sculpture, installations, performance art, happening art, painting and graphic design and for exploring the human body, identity, gender, memory and colonialism.
Titarubi has collaborated with musicians, theater artists, dancers and filmmakers, and many of her works is presented at events in Asia and Europe, such as the Singapore Biennale, the ZKM Center for Art and Media in Germany, the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory of Australia, the Busan Biennale Sculpture Project in South Korea, the Museo d’Arte Contemporanea in Italy and the Singapore Art Museum. Burberry’s sales, which were down 3 percent in the first quarter, turned positive in the second quater, just when Britain voted to exit the European Union. According to Carol Fairweather, Burberry’s chief financial officer, U.K. sales climbed 30 percent in the second quarter, generating 40 percent of growth in the three months. She attributed the sales uptick to the post-referendum devaluation of the pound, which drove the retail prices of merchandise down for those paying in dollars, euros and yuan.
According to VisitBritain, the national tourism agency, July saw the most overseas visitors to the U.K., with numbers up 2 percent to 3.8 million compared to the same month last year. Their spend climbed 4 percent to 2.5 billion pounds, or $3.3 billion.
Fairweather said Burberry also saw sales growth among its local customer base, which she said was due to the company’s work around the “newness” of product and work with private clients. As part of its new strategy, laid out earlier this year, Burberry said it would focus on cultivating the local clientele and cater more to local tastes and climates. Continue reading
