A whopper or not ?There’s a new executive structure at Sephora, with Martin Brok joining the world’s largest prestige beauty retailer as president and chief executive officer, reporting to Chris de Lapuente, who previously led the chain for 10 years.

Brok, who most recently was Starbucks Inc.’s president of Europe, Middle East and Africa, will start at LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton-owned Sephora on Sept. 14.

Arnault said Brok would be charged with creating the next breakthrough chapter at Sephora,” highlighting his "extensive international leadership experience in multiple fast-paced and client-oriented businesses at a crucial moment of change for global retailing.”

In a letter addressed to Sephora’s more than 35,000 employees, de Lapuente said the executive shake-up would fire up our innovation and accelerate our quest to be the world’s most loved beauty community. Continue reading

FRAGRANCE FÉCONDATION WEBINAR

The Fragrance Foundation is bringing its awards online finalists will be announced via webinar. The awards ceremony, annually held at Lincoln Center, has been postponed to September and is being planned as a livestream.

The Fragrance Foundation has also moved the consumer choice voting to August, ahead of the event. We’re hoping this will help spur retail excitement,It will also help us invigorate the category in August.

This year, the foundation is forgoing honorees and instead will introduce new categories, including those based on sustainability, gender-neutral scents and innovation.

The Fragrance Foundation, in the last few years has really looked at resources and where the community wants them. Even though we are not having the event, we need to look at 2021 to find ways to bring back events; the media coverage of the awards is so tremendous, we’ll find our way back.

A CLOSING FRAGRANCE

Sephora Americas president and chief executive officer Jean-André Rougeot put out a statement on Tuesday afternoon saying that while keeping stores closed is the right thing to do.

Terminated employees will all receive severance, the company said, and resources to support their transition including coordination with other companies providing essential services that may be hiring. The employees Sephora let go have been with [the] company for a short tenure and worked limited hours, the company said.

Sephora continues to employ 9,000 U.S. store workers who are being paid and receiving health benefits through late May or when stores reopen, the company said. Store and corporate employees are being required to take six days of mandatory paid time off. Continue reading
