DGENA MOUCLIER: A FASHION STORY

Origins and Education

According to some reports, Dgena Mouclier is the granddaughter of Jacques Mouclier, former President of the French Federation of Couture, Ready-to-Wear Designers and Fashion Creators. However, I have not been able to independently verify this family connection through reliable sources. If confirmed, this lineage would place Dgena Mouclier within a distinguished family tradition closely tied to the world of French haute couture.

She studied at ESMOD International, where she graduated top of her class in 2019, receiving the prestigious Aiguille d’Or (Golden Needle) award. Alongside her studies, she began an internship in 2018 with Master Artisan Franck Sorbier, the only officially recognized Maître d’Art in fashion in France. This experience became a defining influence on her journey toward haute couture.

International Recognition

Her technical expertise quickly gained international attention. In October 2019, the Chinese government selected her to represent and promote the craftsmanship of French haute couture during Shanghai Fashion Week and the Second International Textile Congress in Xequio.

Creating the Brand: DM / D.Mouclier

In 2019, Dgena Mouclier founded her eponymous label, DM, a brand built on the fusion of luxury and environmental responsibility.

The brand’s name carries a dual meaning: “Dgena” means “paradise” in Moorish, while “Mouclier” is said to reference the mouclade, a traditional dish from the Vendée region associated with French royal heritage.

The label is distinguished by its signature concept, Urban Intercultural Journey, which blends sportswear with traditional classic fashion. Upcycling lies at the heart of its creative philosophy. Reclaimed materials, including tarpaulins, fabric samples, and textile offcuts, are transformed into luxury ready-to-wear garments through exceptional French craftsmanship. Every creation is a unique, handmade piece produced in the designer’s Parisian atelier.

The COVID-19 pandemic further strengthened her commitment to innovation and sustainability, leading her to rethink her sourcing methods as a way of challenging the fast fashion model.

Collections

Following her debut collection, Dgena Mouclier presented three additional collections in Paris, followed by a fourth collection unveiled on October 4, 2025.

Online Presence and Distribution

Her brand, D.Mouclier, is presented under the slogan “Be Fashion in Paris.” Her collections are available through Addicted Paris as well as on Instagram (@d.mouclier).

On Instagram, she describes herself as “The Street Wave Dgena • Paris • Fashion Designer,” using the hashtags #upcycling and #nogreenwashing to reflect the brand’s commitment to sustainable fashion.

Her father, the sharp-tongued columnist behind Canal-Luxe, has long played a prominent role in the fashion world, consistently steering it not merely toward trends, but toward the right direction.
