HERMÈS: THE SILENT JOURNEY
There is something of a silent journey about this collection, an elegance that seems to have travelled through time without ever stopping there. Short jackets meet long coats, trousers widen, and fabrics glide around the body with freedom. A few belts, zips and openings disturb the restraint of the cuts, as if each garment kept a share of adventure within it.
The colours seem borrowed from the earth and the hours of autumn: deep browns, beige, grey, black and tawny leather. Then, suddenly, yellow appears, dazzling as a ray of sunshine in the midst of a darkened landscape. Leather converses with knitwear and lighter fabrics; the garment becomes at times protective, at times almost weightless. Nothing seems fixed: the fabrics follow the wearer’s steps and live alongside whoever wears them.
This, perhaps, is where the spirit of the House of Faubourg Hermès lies: in this meeting of heritage and movement. A fashion that carries the past along with it. The silhouettes advance with a quiet elegance, as though leaving the Faubourg Saint-Honoré to take to the road, bearing in their materials the memory of craft and the desire for freedom.
