DARIO VITALE JOINS ARMANI

Armani is entering a new creative chapter. The group has appointed Dario Vitale as Artistic Director of Emporio Armani and Giorgio Armani Accessories, effective immediately. He is the first designer from outside the Armani family to take on the role.

The appointment ends months of speculation following Vitale’s departure from Versace last December, after just one collection. Before joining Versace, the Italian designer spent 15 years at Miu Miu, where he led ready-to-wear design, following an early career at Bottega Veneta under Tomas Maier.

Vitale’s brief but highly discussed time at Versace highlighted his bold use of color and generated strong interest among fashion editors and retailers.

Now at Armani, he faces a very different challenge: bringing a fresh perspective to one of Italy’s most established fashion houses while preserving the legacy of its founder. His first collections will reveal how he plans to strike that balance.
